Your fitting

  • The garment is tried on and assessed in person, and pinned or marked while you are wearing it.
  • Please bring the shoes you intend to wear with the outfit, or a pair of a similar height, so the finished length can be judged accurately.
  • You get a clear price once the work has been assessed, and an expected completion date before any work begins.

Planning your alterations

Prom dresses

  • How far ahead to book: at least one month in advance
  • Typical turnaround: around two weeks

Other occasionwear

  • If the garment is needed for a particular event or date, we recommend booking at least one month in advance too.
  • Your expected completion date is confirmed after the garment has been seen and assessed at your consultation.

Booking ahead is about having room to fit the garment and do the work before the day — it is not how long the alteration itself takes.

Final fitting and collection

When your garment is ready, you will normally be asked to try it on before taking it away. This allows the finished fit to be checked and gives us the opportunity to make any small tweaks if needed.

“Debella was so lovely and did a great job with taking up my bridesmaid dress (even steamed it for me too)! Great communication and very flexible with timings for drop off/collection also. Highly recommend Debella to anyone! Thank you 💗”
