Who we are

The Havant Tailor is operated by Debella Baker, sole trader, at 22 Brockhampton Lane, Havant, Hampshire, PO9 1LZ.

You can call 023 9247 5364 or email info@thehavanttailor.com. Written correspondence can be sent to the address above.

Debella Baker decides how and why your information is used, so she is the data controller for it.

What we collect when you use the enquiry form

If you request a fitting through the form on our contact page, we collect your name, telephone number, email address, what needs altering, what you have told us about the job, and — if you fill them in — the date you need it by and the appointment times that suit you.

We use that information for one thing: to reply to you and arrange a fitting. It is sent to us as an email and is not added to any database or mailing list. We do not sell it, share it for marketing, or pass it to anyone else.

There is no photo upload on this website, deliberately. If you want to show us something, send it on WhatsApp instead — see below.

The form checks a few things automatically to keep spam out. Those checks look at the submission itself and at where it came from; they do not build a profile of you.

WhatsApp

We offer WhatsApp as a way to contact us. If you message us, your phone number, your message and any photos you send are processed by us to answer your enquiry and arrange a fitting, and are also processed by Meta under WhatsApp’s own privacy policy.

WhatsApp messages and any photos sent through WhatsApp are normally retained for up to 12 months after the last interaction. They may be kept longer where necessary for an ongoing booking, complaint or legal obligation.

We will not send you marketing on WhatsApp unless you ask us to.

A photo can help us tell you whether something is worth bringing in. It is not enough to price an alteration — we need to see the garment on you before we can say what is possible and what it will cost.

How long we keep enquiries

Information submitted through our contact or fitting enquiry forms is normally retained for up to 12 months after the last contact. It may be kept longer where necessary for an ongoing booking, complaint or legal obligation.

If you would like yours deleted sooner, just ask.

Photographs of your garments

We sometimes photograph the work we do and publish it on this website, on our Google Business Profile, or on social media. Here is exactly how that works.

  • We always ask first, in writing, and it is entirely optional. Saying no changes nothing at all about the work we do for you or what it costs. We will not ask twice.
  • We do not ask during a fitting. We ask afterwards, when you are dressed and not in the middle of anything.
  • Wedding garments are never published before the wedding date. Ever. If you would rather we never published it at all, that is fine too.
  • The default is the garment, not you. Photographs are normally taken on a mannequin, laid flat, or cropped to the garment. Anything showing a person is only ever published if you have separately and specifically agreed to it.
  • You can change your mind at any time. Tell us and we will take the image down. You do not need to give a reason.
  • We keep a record of what you agreed to — which images, where they may appear, whether your name is used, and the earliest date they may be published.

If a professional photographer took the picture, the copyright usually belongs to them rather than to you, so we will check the licence or ask them directly before publishing anything.

Cameras at the studio

The studio has security cameras and they run 24 hours a day. They cover the driveway, the entrance and external doorway areas, the courtyard and the studio itself, so if you visit you may be recorded.

They are there to keep the premises secure and to protect the garments in our care. Recordings are held in the cloud rather than on site.

The rights set out below apply to camera recordings in the same way as to anything else on this page. If you would like to know what is held about you, please contact us using the details above.

Analytics

We do not currently use any analytics or tracking on this website. No analytics cookies are set and no data about your visit is sent anywhere.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can also object to us using it, or withdraw permission you have given — for photographs, for example. There is no charge, and we will respond within a month.

Just email info@thehavanttailor.com or write to us at the address above.

If you are not happy with how we have handled something, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

This website does not set any cookies. There is nothing here to accept or reject, which is why you have not been asked.

The contact form does not use a session cookie either — its spam protection works without one.

Changes to this page

If we change how any of this works, we will update this page.

Book a fitting

Bring the garment to the studio and we will try it on, talk it through and pin it in place. You will have a clear price and a completion date before any work begins.

  • Fittings and consultations are free and without obligation.
